Cross State Line RP Is Moving to LoneX CAD
As part of the current rebuild of Cross State Line RP, we have made an important long-term decision regarding the systems used by our emergency services and government departments.
The LB Tablet MDT will no longer remain our primary MDT and dispatch platform. Instead, Cross State Line RP will transition to LoneX CAD, which will become the central platform connecting our law enforcement agencies, emergency services, dispatchers and several future civilian and government services.
This is not simply a visual replacement or a small change to the police tablet. It is a change in how information, departments and emergency-service operations will be organised across the entire server.
Why We Made This Decision
LB Tablet has provided us with several useful systems, but our plans for Cross State Line RP have grown beyond what we originally required from an MDT.
We do not only want officers to be able to search a name, write a report or view an active dispatch call. Our long-term goal is to build an interconnected government and public-safety environment in which departments can work together without relying on several disconnected systems.
Until now, many of these functions would have needed to exist in separate resources:
- Police reports in one system
- Dispatch calls in another
- Vehicle and licence information elsewhere
- Department rosters managed separately
- Court and legal records outside the main MDT
- Business registration handled manually
- DMV services operating through staff or individual scripts
That approach would make the server more difficult to maintain and would eventually create several different versions of the same information.
By moving to LoneX CAD, we can begin consolidating these services into one shared ecosystem.
The Right Moment for the Transition
The timing of this change is especially important.
Cross State Line RP is currently undergoing a significant server rebuild. We are already reviewing our resources, departments, databases and integrations to ensure that the next version of the server is more stable, expandable and easier to maintain.
Replacing a central system such as the MDT becomes much more difficult after the server has opened and departments are actively using it every day. Reports, warrants, unit information and department procedures would already be built around the old platform.
Making the transition now allows us to design the rebuilt server around LoneX CAD from the beginning.
Instead of temporarily rebuilding the LB Tablet configuration and replacing it again later, we can immediately begin creating the proper department structure, permissions, dispatch procedures and integrations inside the platform that we intend to use for the long term.
For that reason, this is not only the correct system for our direction—it is also the correct moment to implement it.
One Central Public-Safety Platform
LoneX CAD will become the central operational platform for our emergency-service environment.
Law enforcement personnel will be able to use it for civilian lookups, criminal records, warrants, citations, arrests, vehicle information, licence records, incident reports and active calls.
Supervisors will have access to department-focused tools for personnel management, rosters, activity oversight and internal accountability.
Dispatchers will have their own operational environment where calls can be created, prioritised, assigned and monitored. Active units, statuses, assignments and emergency calls can be managed from one central location rather than dispatch being treated as a small secondary feature inside a police tablet.
This is particularly important because we want dispatch to become a genuine role within the community.
In the future, players will be able to serve as dedicated dispatchers instead of dispatch always being handled informally by whichever officer happens to be available. A central CAD allows dispatchers to coordinate several agencies and maintain an overview of active incidents without needing to perform the duties of a police officer at the same time.
Supporting Multiple Departments
The transition also gives us a stronger foundation for multi-agency roleplay.
LoneX CAD is designed to support more than traditional law enforcement. Its wider structure includes support for areas such as:
- Law enforcement
- Fire and medical services
- Dispatch
- Department of Transportation and towing
- Vehicle and licence administration
- Civilian records
- Business registration
This allows us to build a more connected environment between agencies while still controlling exactly what each department can access.
A dispatcher does not require the same permissions as a police supervisor. A DMV employee should be able to manage licences and registrations without viewing confidential police records. A Fire or EMS member needs access to medical and incident information without automatically receiving law-enforcement permissions.
A detailed role and permission structure makes it possible to give each position the access it actually requires.
A Future DMV Department
One of the largest future opportunities created by this transition is the ability to develop a proper Department of Motor Vehicles.
Vehicle registrations and licences should eventually become more than automatically generated database entries. With a dedicated DMV service, authorised employees could issue, renew, suspend, revoke and reinstate licences and registrations.
This could allow us to create real DMV appointments and administrative roleplay instead of requiring staff members or police officers to handle every licensing matter.
Police and DMV personnel could work with synchronised information, meaning that changes made by an authorised DMV employee could be reflected when an officer checks a civilian, licence or vehicle.
The DMV does not need to open immediately when the server launches, but LoneX CAD gives us the infrastructure required to introduce it properly when the community and staffing levels are ready.
Expanding the Department of Justice
The transition is also an important step toward opening a more complete Department of Justice.
Our long-term DOJ plans include judges, attorneys, court proceedings, warrants, legal filings and the review of criminal cases. These systems require consistent access to police records and reliable control over who can create, approve or modify sensitive information.
By centralising reports, criminal histories, warrants, citations and department access, LoneX CAD provides a much stronger foundation for legal roleplay.
Rather than the DOJ existing as an isolated department with its own disconnected files, authorised legal personnel can eventually work from the same underlying record structure used by law enforcement.
This means a court case could be connected to the reports, charges, warrants and involved civilians that created the case in the first place.
The DOJ will still require its own procedures, training and roleplay structure, but the move to LoneX CAD removes one of the largest technical barriers to developing it.
Civilian Businesses and Registration
The business registry is another area that can become significantly more structured.
In the future, civilians may be able to register and manage businesses through the CAD environment, including ownership and staff information.
This gives us the opportunity to establish a proper government-recognised business system. Businesses could have an official record rather than existing only as a Discord role, database job or informal agreement with server management.
Over time, this could support business applications, ownership transfers, employee records and cooperation with future government or legal departments.
As with the DMV and DOJ, this does not mean that every feature will be activated immediately. The goal is to build a foundation that allows these services to grow naturally instead of requiring a completely new platform every time we introduce another department.
Moving Fully Into the LoneX Ecosystem
This transition represents a wider technical direction for Cross State Line RP.
LoneX CAD will not be treated as another independent website placed beside the server. It is intended to become a central part of how our departments operate.
Our goal is to connect the appropriate server information, Discord permissions, department roles and operational workflows to the LoneX ecosystem wherever possible.
This should result in:
- Fewer disconnected databases
- More consistent records
- Clearer department permissions
- Better cooperation between agencies
- Dedicated dispatcher workflows
- Improved supervisor oversight
- More opportunities for civilian government roleplay
- A platform that can expand alongside the community
It also gives our development team a clearer long-term direction. Instead of maintaining several overlapping MDT, dispatch and records systems, we can focus on building reliable integrations around one central platform.
What Happens Next
The transition will be completed in stages during the current rebuild.
The first priority will be configuring the core CAD environment, departments, ranks, permissions and authentication. After that, we will begin preparing the law-enforcement and dispatch workflows required for testing.
Additional services such as expanded Fire and EMS functionality, DOT operations, the DMV, business registration and the Department of Justice can then be introduced as their procedures and staffing structures are completed.
Some sections may remain unavailable during the initial testing period. This is intentional. We would rather introduce each department properly than activate every available feature before the necessary rules, training and integrations are ready.
Building for the Future
The move from LB Tablet MDT to LoneX CAD is an important part of preparing Cross State Line RP for its next chapter.
It provides the central structure required for professional dispatch operations, connected emergency-service records, stronger department management and future public services.
Most importantly, it allows the server to grow without needing to replace its core information system every time a new department is introduced.
This is more than an MDT replacement.
It is the beginning of a connected public-safety, justice and government ecosystem for Cross State Line RP.
